About Root Box

 

Root Box (ルート・ボックス) は、1981年リコーダー奏者 大竹尚之氏の門下生により結成された。
　創立以来、リコーダー・アンサンブルの新たな可能性へのチャレンジを続けており、そのレパートリーは幅広い。リコーダーが活躍したルネサンスやバロック音楽にとどまらず、古典派〜ロマン派〜近現代などのクラシック音楽、さらにはポピュラー音楽、映画音楽、アニメ音楽、ゲーム音楽、メンバー作曲によるオリジナル音楽などに及んでいる。また、このグループの特徴は演奏曲目のほとんどをメンバー自身がアレンジしていることである。
　現メンバーは、創立以来のメンバーである藤井正幸、水野しのぶ、それに1985年から参加した根岸基夫、鈴木徹太郎の4名である。それぞれ独自の演奏活動や教育活動を行っている。
　1983年ルーテル市ヶ谷センターでの第1回コンサート以降、東京や神奈川にて定期的にコンサートを開催。2014年には台湾コンサートツアーを行った。

 

The recorder quartet Root Box was founded in 1981, by students of recorder player Naoyuki Otake.
Since its founding, Root Box has been exploring the new possibilities of recorder ensembles. They have a big repertoire, ranging from Renaissance and Baroque music to Classical, Romantic and contemporary music. Furthermore, they also perform popular music, movie themes, animation music, game music, and original music composed by themselves. What is particularly worth noting is that they arrange most of the music by themselves.
 
The four present members consist of Masayuki Fujii and Shinobu Mizuno, who are the two founding members, and Motoo Negishi and Tetsutaro Suzuki, who both joined the group in 1985. Each of them are independent performers and teachers in their own right.
 
Root Box maintains a regular performing schedule in the Tokyo and Kanagawa areas, since holding their first concert in 1983 at the Lutheran Ichigaya Center. They also had a highly successful concert tour in Taiwan in 2014.
